Pastoral Care

Pastoral Care

Our pastoral care in every aspect is proactive and pre-emptive. We place great importance on looking after ‘the individual’ at every stage of their time at Zaytouna; doing so in a proactive, open and collaborative way that encourages staff, parents and pupils to work together.

This extends to our teaching staff, with an increasing number of our staff members having benefitted from Mental Health First Aid training.

The School’s culture and communication systems ensure that staff share information about pupils, to ensure a personal approach. The Inclusion Team – including the Deputy Head, SENDCO and Pastoral Lead – meet on a weekly basis with class teachers, teaching assistants and Senior Leaders to ensure that pupils remain firmly at the centre of our pastoral work.

Our pupil surveys ensure we understand our pupils’ experiences, whilst also consulting our Champions of Change and employing pupil focus groups to ensure that the genuine pupil voice helps to shape our pastoral provision and decision making.

Our strong community of highly trained Health and Wellbeing staff are on-site and available to all pupils for medical and wellbeing support, which includes access to a trained ELSA.
