I am Mr Lees and I am the Year 6 teacher for Dublin class. I completed a BA (hons) in English Language at Sheffield Hallam University, before completing my PGCE at the same university to gain my Qualified Teacher Status.
The reason I became a teacher is so that I can have the same long-lasting impact on children’s lives as some of the amazing teachers I had. Also, I love the fact that everyday is completely different and that you have fantastic experiences alongside the pupils at the school.
As the science lead, I obviously love teaching science as it promotes curiosity; allows the children to investigate how the world works and helps them to understand the world around them. However, I also love teaching English because I’ve always maintained a keen interest in reading and writing.
Outside of school, I love anything to do with sport (particularly football and Manchester United), whether that is playing, watching or talking about it! I like to travel and experience different cultures when I get the opportunity, and I also have a keen interest in film, music and literature.
Finally, my favourite book… there are loads to choose from! When I was in school, I loved the ‘His Dark Materials’ trilogy by Philip Pullman and the Harry Potter books. More recently, Brightstorm by Vashti Hardy is one that I definitely recommend!
