Assistant Headteacher & Year 2 Teacher - Khartoum & Staff Governor

Louise Russell

My name is Mrs. Russell and I completed a BEd (Hons) Education and Natural Sciences (Biology) at the University of Cambridge.  I have taught in various schools in England, Portugal and Germany, including in two different boarding schools, during the past 20 years.

I love teaching and being in the classroom working with children.  I find it hard to pick my favourite subject to teach but I love reading and sharing my love of books with children.  My favourite book is ‘Goodnight Mr Tom’ but I am enjoying revisiting all the toddler classics again with my son.

My hobbies (apart from sneaking off with a book) include crafts, hiking and spending time with my family.  I used to be a keen surfer but have little chance to do that now, living in the East Midlands!

I am passionate about creating inclusive classroom practice and encouraging all children to develop their interests and skills to achieve their future goals. My favourite part of teaching is watching the moment when a child achieves something that they have worked hard to master – it never fails to bring a smile to my face (and sometimes a tear to my eye).
