Joanne Robottom

Office Manager

My name is Mrs Robottom and I have worked at Zaytouna Primary for 7 years now. The job is so rewarding in many ways as I have an opportunity to make a difference to a young person’s life.

The school has grown over the years, we are on a journey to become a school of excellence and I truly believe we will get to our destination. I have over 30 years’ experience working in an office environment, my strength is being organised, and to never be late.

Our children are amazing, they each have their own identity and will have often stop and have a chart with me when I am out and about around school.

I am in charge of the school office, along with my team Miss Elliott and Mrs Mahmood we look after all the pupil information from ordering books to arranging afterschool clubs. I also look after all things finance and HR.

I love to dress up when we have our special event days like World Book Day or Red Nose Day, I am a big kid, so far I have been Mary Poppins, an Oompal loompa, Genie from Aladdin and not forgetting Sir Captain Tom.  There has been a little competition between myself and Mr Mannion on who looked the best (I am winning so far).

I was born and raised in Dudley, West Midlands and spent most of my life growing up here, I lived in Chepstow, South Wales for 3 years until moving to Derby 10 years ago to be nearer family. My favourite subject at school was Maths and PE, I played netball and hockey for my secondary school, amongst many other sports but my passion will always be football.

In my spare time I like to walk and walk and walk… I also enjoy football (watching not playing) and occasionally go and watch my favourite football team, West Bromwich Albion. I love being by the sea and could watch the waves for hours and hours… my plan is to retire (not for many years yet) and live by the sea.

It truly is a great opportunity to work at Zaytouna, we have such an amazing team.  You may see me outside in the mornings helping children into school safely – please say hello!
