Hello, I’m Miss Townsend. I did my teacher training at the University of Derby where I studies for a BA Hons in Early Years and Educational Development & Postgraduate certificate in Education in Teaching (3-7) with specialist subject enhancement in English.
I have always wanted to be a teacher ever since I was young. I can still remember my favourite teachers who made me want to come to school and learn and I wanted to make the same impact to the children I teach.
I enjoy teaching Phonics because reading is such a valuable skill to have. It is such an amazing moment when a child has grasped the skill of reading and once they’ve got it there is no stopping them.
My hobbies include reading and spending time with my family and friends. My favourite book is Boy by Roald Dahl
When studying at Nottingham Trent University, I completed in both the Women’s basketball team and the wheelchair basketball team. We won the Wheelchair University Championships in 2015 and competed again the University of Nottingham at the Motor Point Arena in Nottingham.
